Dot Conquest

Can you play Dot Conquest offline?

What needs a connection and what does not: loading the browser version, playing a battle, the Daily's prize, and the phone version later.Updated 13 October 2026

Dot Conquest is a game against AI generals, so a battle never needs another person and never needs a server. What needs a connection is getting the game in the first place. Here is the detail.

The browser version

Loading it needs a connection. The Play page downloads the game's files when you press Play. The page shows how big the download is before you start. Your browser keeps the files afterwards, so a second visit usually starts faster, but the page itself still has to load from the web.

Playing does not. Once the game has started, everything runs inside your browser tab: the battle, the AI generals, the campaign, the Gauntlet and the Daily. The game does not talk to a server while you play. If your connection drops in the middle of a battle, the battle carries on.

Saving does not. Your progress is saved in your browser's own storage on your device, not on a server. That has a cost worth knowing: clear the site's data, or play in a private window, and the progress goes with it. Saves, resets and transfers explains it.

The Daily without a connection

The Daily's Today's Battle is chosen from the date, so every player gets the same battle on the same day without the game asking anyone. In the browser version, the Daily's prize is counted on your device's own date.

The phone version

The phone version is coming, and it is built to play without a connection too: every mode is against AI generals. A few things will want a connection when you have one: keeping your progress safe across phones, the shop, and checking the Daily's day so that a prize cannot be taken twice. If the server cannot be reached, a Daily prize waits for it rather than being lost.

What will never work offline

There is no online play against other people yet; it is planned for after launch, and it will need a connection when it comes.
