The browser version of Dot Conquest has no account and no sign-in. Your progress (the campaign, your Gauntlet run, the Daily, your settings) is saved in your browser's own storage, on your device. That keeps things simple, but it means your progress lives in that browser on that device, and a few things can delete it.
Where your progress is
In your browser's storage for this site. The game writes to it after every save: a cleared level, a finished battle, a changed setting. Nothing is sent to a server.
What deletes it
- Clearing the site's data. "Clear browsing data" with cookies and site data selected, or removing this site's stored data in your browser's settings, deletes your progress. (Clearing only cached images and files does not.)
- Private or incognito windows. Progress made in one is deleted when the window closes.
- The browser clearing it by itself. Some browsers remove a site's storage when it has not been visited for a while, or when the device is short of space. Safari is known to do this after some days without a visit.
- Another browser, or another device. Each browser keeps its own storage. Progress in Chrome is not in Firefox, and progress on your laptop is not on your desktop.
- "Delete my data" in the game's Settings. It deletes everything the game has saved, on purpose.
Keeping it safe
- Play in a normal window, not a private one.
- Use one browser for the game.
- Visit now and then. A browser that clears unused sites will keep one you use.
- Be careful with "clear browsing data". Leave out this site, or untick cookies and site data.
If a save cannot be read
The game keeps a backup of each save file. If a file cannot be read, it falls back to the backup, and if neither can be read, it says so once rather than silently starting over.
Can I move my progress?
Not yet. There is no account in the browser version, so there is nothing to move it with. The phone version is planned to keep progress safe across devices with an account; when that exists, how browser progress fits in will be decided then. For now, each browser has its own progress.
Resetting on purpose
If you want to start again, the game's Settings screen has "delete my data", under its Privacy tab. It asks before it deletes, and deletes everything the game saved in this browser. After it, the game goes back to its main menu as a new player.
Where to go next
- Playing without a connection: can you play offline.
- The game will not start: the browser game won't load.
